In 1993 CAS Anesthesia Training and Relief Fund agreed that Canadians anesthetists have a moral obligation to help developing countries provide safe anesthesia. CASIEF (Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society International Education Fund) was created. Since then this program aided Nepalese and Rwandan programs. If interested residents must contact CASIEF directors to see if they are eligible for the elective.
